Kavin Thadani, Esq.
Kavin is a Senior Counsel in the Special Federal Litigation Division of the New York City Law Department, where he defends the City of New York and its employees in civil rights cases filed in federal court, and supervises a team of attorneys.  Prior to joining the Law Department, Kavin was an associate in the Mass Torts, Insurance and Consumer Litigation practice group at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP for five and a half years, where his practice focused mainly on insurance litigation.  He graduated magna cum laude from the Syracuse University College of Law in 2009 and from Fordham University in 2006.  While at Fordham, Kavin was a four-year member of the Fordham LC Mock Trial team.  At Syracuse, Kavin was a member of the Law Review, Moot Court Honor Society and National Trial Team, was named to the Order of the Coif, and was awarded the New York State Academy of Trial Lawyers Excellence in Advocacy Award.  He has been coaching the Fordham LC Mock Trial team since the 2012-13 season.
 

Assistant Coaches


 
Olatokunbo Olaniyan, Esq.  
Olatokunbo is a Senior Trial Attorney at the Kings County District Attorney's Office where she prosecutes homicides.  Prior to joining the District Attorney's office, Olatokunbo graduated from Gonzaga University in 2005 and attended Syracuse University School of Law where she was a member of the National Trial Team and Moot Court Honor Society.  As a mock trial competitor, Olatokunbo won numerous awards including the National Institute of Trial Advocacy Tournament of Champions Best Advocate Award, New York State Bar Association Tiffany Cup Award, International Trial Lawyers Award, National Association of Women Lawyers Award, and the New York State Academy of Trial Lawyers Excellence in Advocacy and Leadership Awards. She has been coaching the Fordham LC Mock Trial team since the 2012-2013 season.
 
Thomas Vorsteg
Thomas is thrilled to once again be joining the Fordham LC Mock Trial coaching staff.  While an undergraduate, Thomas competed on the Fordham LC Mock Trial team as both a witness and an attorney and won numerous awards.  After graduating with degrees in History and Political Science, Thomas was an assistant coach for three seasons.  Thomas earned his Masters of Science degree from Bank Street College of Education and now freelances as an actor and a tutor.
 
Tara Bright, Esq.
Tara is an Associate at the Law Firm of Harris Beach, PLLC, where she practices civil litigation in the mass tort and industry wide litigation practice group.  Tara has extensive experience in mass tort litigation and trial advocacy as a former Assistant Corporation Counsel, Trial Attorney, and Assistant Unit Chief for the New York City Law Department.  While in law school, Tara competed in numerous regional and national competitions, including those hosted by the American Association for Justice, Tournament of Champions, National Trial Competition, and Black Law Students Association.  Tara served on the executive board of the Syracuse Law Moot Court Honor Society and is a proud recipient of the National Order of the Barrister's Award.
 
Michelle Pope, Esq.
Michelle is an associate at Clyde & Co US LLP where she focuses on product liability, environmental and mass tort litigation.  Michelle has also served as an Assistant District Attorney with the Kings County District Attorney’s Office and defended the City of New York and its agencies while working for the Tort Division of the New York City Law Department.  Michelle began mock trial at The University of Georgia, where her team placed 3rd at Nationals in 2011, her senior year.  While at Notre Dame Law School, Michelle won first place at both the regional and national American Association for Justice Student Trial Advocacy Competition and also competed at the National Institute of Trial Advocacy Tournament of Champions.  Before graduating in 2014, Michelle was awarded the Presier Law Student Award for Trial Advocacy and the Jon Krupnik Award for Excellence in Trial Advocacy.  Michelle has coached mock trial at the high school and college level and served as guest faculty to law students in trial advocacy courses.
